The system file is not suitable...

Some XP users reported the following error when trying to install the downloaded program.

'c:\windows\system32\autoExec.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and microsoft windows applications. Close to terminate the application".

CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM

The error may come up if one or more of the following files are missing or damaged
in your Windows XP or Windows 2000 system:

The corrupted files need to be fixed as described below. Otherwise you may have problems running several software in the market place that otherwise are true windows programs. We believe this error is caused after installing Service Pack 2 for Windows XP. It appears that the XP update corrupts one of the XP windows files such as the Autoexec.nt

The problem is described in several places on the Internet by going to www.google.com and searching for the error message you received during the program installation.

SOLUTION 1

Most users can resolve it by simply copying the AutoExec.nt file from the C:\WINDOWS\REPAIR folder to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder. You can use the windows Explorer to do the copying of the file. Once the file is copied, you can try installing the tax program again. If the problem does not go away, copy the other two files if they are available on the C:\WINDOWS\REPAIR:

SOLUTION 2

Use your Windows CD

1. Insert the CD into the CD drive or DVD drive.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
4. At the command prompt, type the following commands, pressing ENTER after each command:

5. Start or install the tax program.
